Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 6 large eggs
  • 6 large egg yolks (in addition to the 6 whole eggs)
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup whole milk (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350F (175C). Generously grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan or bundt pan. Shake out any excess flour.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter until smooth and creamy.
  3. Gradually add the sugar while mixing at medium speed until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs and additional yolks, one at a time, mixing just until incorporated.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the butter mixture, alternating with milk if using, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.
  6. Mix until just combined, scraping down the sides as necessary.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Cool in the pan for 20 minutes, then carefully invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Slice and serve as desired.
